Guide to Usage of the Lineyte-Samarnon Website
Introduction
We would like to assist you in this new look of the Leyte Samar Web Portal. We proudly introduce to you our
improved version with various modules for you to navigate or to explore. This is our way of saying thank you
for visiting our site during its first version. This is also the reason why we got inspired conceptualizing
this all-new version. We encourage all Leyteños, Samareños, visitors and foreigners alike to keep yourself abreast with
the latest developments or happenings in the Eastern Visayas Region and this is only possible if you keep coming
back to our site so we can show you our latest updates through our added modules. There are also upcoming
modules that we will soon launch and implement, we thus assure you that these are similarly interesting and
exciting ones. We look forward to your enjoyable visit on the Leyte-Samar Web Portal.
The Lineyte-Samarnon dictionary is still our main module, the same navigation follows:
- Searching a Word
- Type an English or Lineyte-Samarnon word inside the
textbox and click the Search button. The word result/s will be displayed. Some distinct
words containing two or three letters will display in the English details page. If
it is a Lineyte-Samarnon two or three letter word being searched a link will appear
below the last word in the related word results. Click the link to go to the desired
page. To switch to the English details page just click the same link.
Most of the Lineyte-Samarnon words that you will find in this website are root words. Words that are either adjectives or adverbs tend to change the forms of the words to show the degree of comparison like: husay (root word), mahusay (adjective), mahuro-husay (comparative form) and gimahuhusayi (superlative form).
- Displayed Results
The result shows the word and the corresponding meaning followed by a list of related words.
If a user/visitor may not be able to form a complete word, like if he/she searches for “domain “ but was only able to type “dom”, all words containing the three letters “dom” in that order will appear, all one has to do is select from among those listed words the distinct word he/she wants to search. Navigating also the paging found below the listing of words will help the user search for the appropriate word. Once the word chosen is selected, notice the change of font color (from blue it will turn red).
Clicking the selected word will display its details. The word will appear in bold fonts and below it is the parts of speech that are italicized, then the corresponding meaning. Some selected words (most common Lineyte-Samarnon words) have sample sentences and sentence translations.

- Misspelled Word/s
Misspelled Lineyte-Samarnon words may not appear, explore other spelling options for chosen Lineyte-Samarnon word. Below is a sample of some Lineyte-Samarnon words or terms that may be misspelled:

- Words with Hyphen, Stress, Glottal Stops
There are Lineyte-Samarnon words that may contain hyphen, stress, or glottal stop between syllables, search the word the way it is pronounced. For example:
dul-ong
karan-on may-ada
kasisid’man kababayin’an
- Adding a Word
- Before a user/visitor can add a word, the 'Signin' link should be clicked. This would bring the
user/visitor to the signin page requiring an email address and password. Otherwise, the user/visitor
will have to click the 'create an account' link which will bring the user/visitor to the sign-up page
for filling out properly.
- After a successful sign in, the add word page will be displayed with a form that should be
properly filled-out to successfully add a word.
- The required fields should be filled out.

- Adding a Sample Sentence
A sample sentence with its corresponding translation may be added in the 'add word' form only when already
signed in as a member. A user/visitor may also add sample sentences and sentence translations in the 'details'
page when the selected word has no sample sentence and sentence translation yet.
LeyteSamar Web Portal provides local, national and international news links, the news module is just
directly below the Dictionary Module. Clicking or selecting a specific local news link will give the users
and visitors full and complete information about current and latest happenings in Leyte and Samar. When a
user or visitor wants news from the national and/or international scene, either of these two links may just
be clicked. Selecting either the National or International News links will redirect the user or visitor to
online national and/or international news providers (e.g. Inquirer.net, Philippine Star.com, Manila Bulletin.com,
Sun Star.com, Reuters.com, CNN.com, Fox News.com and many others) with news stories to select from.
Friends Forever is the newest feature that will entertain visitors and users across generations and
from all walks of life. This is quite similar to the social networking sites that pervades in the internet.
Creating an account or signing-up for membership will enable one to explore some dynamic features of this
module such as sending messages, adding friends, inviting your circle of friends to be a member of your buddy
network, adding testimonials, uploading photos and being featured in the featured friend area. On the other
hand, merely visiting and exploring the Friends Forever Module will only allow viewing of photos of all
registered members. Thus, if one wants to experience the benefits and privileges of this particular module,
signing up is necessary.
Visiting the various pages of the above mentioned modules is a privilege to all visitors, users and
members alike, but uploading will only be allowed upon membership or after signing up.
Please find below some simple rules or guidelines when uploading videos, photos and music or songs:
- All videos, photos and songs for uploading should convey milestones or relevant
events/happenings within Leyte and Samar;
- zurcSoft prohibits the use of pornographic, illegal, violent and abusive videos photos and songs.
We cater to a heterogeneous audience such as professionals, elderly, students and other visitors hence
all videos, photos and songs to be uploaded or contributed must conform with zurcsoft guidelines or standards;
- Uploaded videos should be less than 10mb in size;
- Videos, photos and songs uploaded or contributed are subject to the approval of the website administrator.
- Uploaded videos, photos and songs will be seen online once approved by the website administrator.

Clicking the video or photo links will bring visitors/users to pages with some videos or photos that are carefully
selected to depict events, significant happenings, cultural presentations, historical events, some local news, lifestyle
of the Leyteños and Samareños, sports and competitions, local band performers in Leyte and Samar and other related activities.
Comments about the videos and/or photos featured may be emaile or posted at webmaster(at)leytesamar(dot)org to give us feedback from you, our valued visitors.

To view a video or photo in a bigger version just simply click the selected thumbnail.
How to exit in the selected video or photo
Just press the 'x' button to return to the thumbnails.
For a user/visitor to create an account, click the 'Create Account' link. A page will then appear with a
form to properly fill out. Fill out required fields if you are decided to create your account with us then
click the button signup. Members can immediately login after creating an account and can enjoy the privileges
of being a member.
This is the page that provides a personal account for all members giving them the chance to enjoy the privileges
such as editing ones profile, inviting friends for membership in this website, a history of personal uploads as an active
member, a history also of the approved words and sample sentences recently added to the database of the LS Dictionary as
a member and a glimpse into his/her favorites.
The Local Attractions icon gives visitors a chance to explore Eastern Visayas'
historic and scenic landmarks. A brief description is provided for each clicked tiled picture or thumbnail.
Search for places, landmarks, and other desired destinations and you will be able to view them. Categories are
also provided for your convenience.
This module provides users and visitors with music or songs that are categorized in accordance to your song preference.
Users and visitors can also search for music that interests them by typing either the title or the author of the song/s.
A bonafide member can upload music but website administrators will have to approve the song/s. The rules and guidelines
provided in Uploading Video or Photo also applies.
Refer to our comprehensive directory when you are in search of services, institutions, accommodations,
recreational sites and many other services. You will find almost everything in this newly created module with
the aim of providing you all, our most valued visitors and users, a guide to some basic services within
Eastern Visayas. Click on our attractive icons and you will be provided with information, numbers, addresses
and locations. If you want to add another category for our directory, sign-up for membership in our website
to be able to add one.
A member can search his/her buddy or friend by exploring the "Search for a Friend"
portion which is just beside the "featured friend" area.
